What is a Monkey Hook?
A picture hanger made of one piece of spring steel. You push its tip through drywall by hand, twist it, and slide the shaft in until only the small hook shows. No hammer, drill or anchor.
How much weight does a Monkey Hook hold?
It depends on the pack and the wall. The gold Original blister says 35 lb in 1/2-inch drywall and 50 lb in 5/8-inch. The galvanized silver Original pack says 20 lb, and Gorilla Grade says 40 lb. Go by the number on your pack.
Do I need a stud?
No. A Monkey Hook goes into drywall where there is no stud. If the tip will not go through, you have probably hit one, so move the hook or use a nail into the stud.
How do I take a Monkey Hook out?
Lift the picture off, rotate the hook back down to the angle it went in at, and slide it out. It leaves a small hole that a dab of filler hides, and the hook can go back in somewhere else.

Can I use Monkey Hooks on plaster, brick or tile?
They are made for drywall, also sold as sheetrock, gypsum board or plasterboard. Brick, concrete, tile and solid wood are not hollow, so the shaft has nowhere to go. Use fixings made for those walls.
What is the difference between Original and Gorilla Grade?
Gorilla Grade is made of thicker steel and the box copy says it holds up to 40% more than the Original. Use it for heavier mirrors and canvases.
