Monkey Hook Weight Guide
Each pack prints its own rating. Here is every rating in our range, in one place and to one scale.
The gold Original blister gives two numbers because thicker drywall holds more: 35 lb in 1/2-inch board, 50 lb in 5/8-inch. The galvanized silver Original pack says 20 lb, and Gorilla Grade says 40 lb per hook. When the numbers differ, go by the one printed on the pack in your hand.
Flush Mount hooks come only in the Home & Office Pack. The box gives them no separate number and calls them the hook for small items that must sit flat, so keep them for light pieces.

1/2-inch or 5/8-inch drywall?
Most house walls
Thicker board, higher gold-pack rating

If you do not know your drywall, plan on the lower number. Most house walls are 1/2-inch board.
Weigh it before you hang it
Stand on a bathroom scale, then step on again holding the piece. The difference is its weight. Pick a hook rated above that number.
If the piece is heavier than every rating here, a spring-steel hook is the wrong fixing. Use a stud, or an anchor rated for the weight.
